Uninsured Services

What are "uninsured services"?

Services are referred to as "uninsured" when they are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). Common examples include doctor's notes, forms for insurance/legal/employment purposes, cosmetic procedures, and charges for missed appointments.

How do I pay for uninsured services?

We use a service called PatientSERV, which provides many benefits to our patients, including the ability to choose between an annual membership plan or pay-per-service and our methods of payment have expanded to include credit and debit, online or in person at our office.

This service began in February 2024, all  patients of Dr. Stewart and Dobson, would have received information from PatientSERV in the mail. For a copy of the introductory letter that was sent, please click here.

PatientSERV

Why am I being charged for these services?

While OHIP covers the cost of most of your medical needs, the cost of services that are not included, is the responsibility of the patient (or a third party who has requested the service, in some circumstances)

How are the fees for these services set?

Each year the Ontario Medical Association updates the suggested rates for uninsured services and fees are based on these rates

Disability Tax Credits

The disability tax credit (DTC) is a tax credit that helps people with disabilities, or their supporting family member, reduce the amount of income tax they may have to pay

Disability tax credit applications are not covered by OHIP. The fee for completion is $100 without P365 Plan or $50 with P365 Plan

Before proceeding, please click here to assess whether you may be eligible.

If you feel you are eligible after reviewing the above, you must complete Part A. Part A can be completed electronically online or printed and filled out.

In either case - you must provide a copy of the completed Part A with Reference Number to our office. This can be done in one of two ways:

1) Electronically - please call the office to obtain an email link to upload your document

2) In Person - please drop off at our office during office hours

Completed Part A and Reference Number must be received before the physician can complete Part B.  Once completed by your physician, you will receive a confirmation from our office and invoice from PatientSERV
